These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Croft ("the Service"), operated by [COMPANY/OWNER NAME]("we", "us"). By signing in or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Your use is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
Croft is not financial advice. It is an informational planning tool. Its numbers — including balances, budgets, and debt-paydown forecasts — are estimates, not guarantees, and should not be your sole basis for any financial decision. See Not financial advice below.
Beta software
The Service is in beta and is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. It is under active development: features may change, break, or be removed, and the Service may be unavailable or produce incorrect results at times. We may modify or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time without liability to you.
Not financial advice
Croft provides general, informational tools to help you visualize and plan your finances. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing in the Service is a recommendation to take or refrain from any action.
The projections, budgets, and paydown plans the Service shows are estimates based on the data and rules you provide and on assumptions that may not hold. Actual results will differ. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. You are solely responsible for your own financial choices.
Your responsibilities
- Accuracy of your data. The Service's output is only as good as its input. You are responsible for the accuracy of the accounts, balances, rates, payments, and rules you enter, and for reviewing data imported from linked institutions.
- Account security. Keep your Google account secure; you are responsible for activity under your sign-in.
- Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Access data or accounts that are not yours, or attempt to circumvent authentication or access controls.
- Probe, scan, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, or introduce malicious code.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or build a competing service from the Service except as permitted by law.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Third-party services
The Service integrates Google (sign-in), Plaid (bank linking), Anthropic (AI features), and infrastructure providers. Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for their services. See our Privacy Policy for what data each receives.
Suspension and termination
Access is currently invite-only. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, including if we believe you have violated these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers and limitation of liability) will survive.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any projection or figure it produces is accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will [COMPANY/OWNER NAME] be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, savings, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any financial decision made in reliance on it — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed USD $100 or the amount you paid us to use the Service in the prior 12 months, whichever is greater.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, except where applicable law provides otherwise. [TODO: owner to set governing jurisdiction and venue.]
